Radiographic assessment of small lung nodules: what can we do and what information does it give us?

چکیده
: The evaluation of small pulmonary nodules is a common and challenging clinical scenario often requiring multi-disciplinary approach to optimize patient care. Radiographic assessment an important part the determination whether nodule malignant or benign which then translates into intervention management strategy. A multimodality radiological longitudinal follow up may be needed based on combination imaging features at initial presentation. In this article, we illustrate role anatomical functional techniques [chest radiography, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance (MRI), positron emission tomography/computed (PET/CT)] in characterization nodules, with emphasis chest CT, workhorse imaging. This discussion framed context how fits current international guidelines assessment, both Fleischner society British Thoracic Society (BTS) guidelines, including application risk prediction scores. Emerging applications radiomics, machine learning artificial intelligence (AI) these advanced future are also illustrated.

Molecular approaches to diagnosis of invasive aspergillosis what we know and what we do not know.
Invasive aspergillosis (IA) are a major complication in immunocompromized patients where can be serious and rapidly fatal. Early diagnosis and early appropriate antifungal treatment is important in reducing mortality and morbidity. But despite many efforts to develop detection methods, the diagnosis of IA still remains challenging and current conventional methods are limited for adequate diagno...
متن کاملtube thoracostomy (chest tube) removal in traumatic patients: what do we know? what can we do?
chest tube (ct) or tube thoracostomy placement is often indicated following traumatic injuries. premature movement of the chest tube leads to increased hospital complications and costs for patients. placement of a chest tube is indicated in drainage of blood, bile, pus, drain air, and other fluids. although there is a general agreement for the placement of a chest tube, there is little consensu...
متن کاملInformed consent: what is it? Who can give it? How do we improve it?
The freedom to choose is integral to our daily lives, directs our interactions with patients, and is a key component of our conduct of human-subjects research. Most of the historical errors and atrocities in human experimentation had at their core a failure of consent. In response to those events, national and international law developed to direct researchers to a process of informed consent to...
متن کاملSubclinical atherosclerosis: what it is, what it means and what we can do about it
Atherosclerosis is a chronic, progressive, inflammatory disease with a long asymptomatic phase. Disease progression can lead eventually to the occurrence of acute cardiovascular events such as myocardial infarction, unstable angina pectoris and sudden cardiac death. While the disease is still in a subclinical stage, however, the presence of atherosclerosis can be identified by several methods, ...
متن کاملDiagnostic and therapeutic challenges for dermatologists: What shall we do when we don’t know what to do?
What shall we do when we have done everything we could for the diagnosis and treatment of a patient, but were not successful? What shall we do when there is no definite treatment for a patient? What shall we do when we have no diagnosis or treatment for a patient? Some useful suggestions are presented here to get rid of these situations.
